WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING WITH ME

laura R. Artistry

Finding and securing  the right artist for your wedding day can be overwhelming, so I am here to simplify things for you. Below are the most asked questions by my brides.

Laura R. Artistry - Charlotte based, professional makeup services

These are the steps:

  1. Fill in the Inquiry Form: Please take your time and fill in each section. Answering all the questions will provide me with the information to not only check for availability but also to better understand and fulfill your vision for your big day!
  2. Phone Consultation: If I have availability for your wedding day, we’ll have a phone consultation. This gives us a chance to get familiarized and allows us to go over your bridal vision, talk about your skincare routine, and more. All of this information will help me create a customized proposal tailored to you!
  3. Receive a Customized Proposal:  I will send you a customized proposal that will allow you to view your invoice, sign the contract, and make payments online. Note: There is a 3.5% processing fee when making payments online. There may also be extra fees, such as an assistant fee (depending on the size of your party), travel fee per artist, relocation fee per artist, or early morning fee per artist.
  4. Sign Contract and Make a Payment: Once you have viewed your proposal and are ready to move forward, you will have 7 days to sign the contract and make a payment of 20% of the total costs; this is known as a retainer fee. The remaining balance will automatically draft from the card you used, 2 weeks before your wedding date. This will secure your date and allow you to cross off “find a makeup artist” from your to-do list!
  5. Book a Trial: I recommend booking a trial 8-10 weeks prior to your wedding date.

Absolutely. Some brides prefer to have a trial first. These are the steps in this situation:

  1. Fill in the Inquiry Form.

  2. Set Up a Phone Consultation.

  3. Receive a Customized Proposal.

  4. Schedule Your Trial: When you decide to move forward and schedule your trial, I recommend making an appointment within a few days of the proposal being sent. This will avoid other brides inquiring and securing your wedding date. Note: I unfortunately cannot secure your date until the retainer is paid, so the sooner you have a trial, the better!

  5. Sign and Pay the Retainer Fee: Once the trial is complete, you have 24 hours to sign and pay a 20% retainer fee in order to secure your date.

I will notify you immediately about it. Being the first inquiry, you have priority to secure your date; having a trial as soon as possible minimizes the chances of same date inquiry conflict.

A Trial After Booking: Securing your date as soon as possible will eliminate any conflicts with same-date inquiries. Also, having a trial 8-10 weeks before the wedding day is highly recommended. This ensures that the fresh memory of the trial will help perfect the look by making any agreed-upon changes. It also provides a more up-to-date and accurate skin assessment to ensure your makeup is flawless on your big day.

A Trial Before Booking: This is typically held 6 months to a year before your big day. With this time frame, you might experience changes in your skin or change your mind about the look you want. In this situation, I highly suggest a second trial 8-10 weeks before the wedding day to ensure you look your best. Also, a trial before booking does not secure your date, which could result in your wedding date no longer being available. Note: If you come in for a trial, I will hold your date for 24 hours after we meet.

These are some guidelines to help you decide what works best for you! Whatever option you choose, I will do my best to make sure you look fabulous on your wedding day!

We will have a phone consultation first, and I will give you the necessary instructions based on your skincare routine. Your skin plays a tremendous part in the way your makeup looks, so having it prepped for the trial will give you a more realistic idea of how it will look on your wedding day.

Also, please wear a white top during the trial, ideally with the same neckline as your wedding dress. Not a must, but ideally.

Please note that recent brow waxing (less than 72 hours) and dermaplaning facials (less than 7 days) will greatly affect the way the skin holds the foundation. If you are considering any of these procedures before the trial, I highly advise you to have them done according to my timing suggestions. Why? Waxing and dermaplaning procedures remove the superficial top layer of skin; therefore, there will be a difference in skin textures on the areas that have been waxed, or possibly patchy-looking areas after dermaplaning.

A: Depending on the complexity of the style, a trial will take anywhere between 1 1/2 hrs- 2 1/2 hrs .

FUN FACT: I tend to be very quiet during a makeup trial. I am super focused and I simply can not carry a full conversation while in the creation process, as much as I would love to connect with you and learn more about you!

The makeup trial fee covers one look only . If you are considering a second look, it will be charged additionally

Tokens of love and appreciation conveyed by my beautiful ladies

“Working with Laura was one of the best decisions I made during my wedding process. We met serendipitously and hit it off instantly. We did a fun make-up lesson and began to plan my wedding look after our first meeting! Not only is she an amazing makeup artist, but she is thoughtful and calm, which is needed when a wedding is involved. We landed on a vision that captured my style and personality and I felt like a truly glowing bride on the big day. Could not recommend her more for any type of big occasion or event!”
